Vice Commander

Col Wes Hannah Jr.Colonel Wes Hannah Jr., Vice Commander for Southeast Region CAP.  He holds a master rating in Command and a master rating in Operations. 

He served as Chief of Staff for Southeast Region from 2008 until 2014. Prior, he served as Director of Plans and Programs. He is the former Director of the Southeast region Staff College held annually at McGhee-Tyson ANGB in Tennessee.

His Civil Air Patrol career started in 1974 in the New York Wing. He completed the Senior Officer Course in 1975 and went on to serve as Squadron Commander and twice as Group Commander.  He also served as Director for the NYWG Solo Flight School.

After moving to Florida Wing in 1998, Hannah served as Chief of Staff - Training in Florida Wing, and later as FLWG Vice Commander.  He owned an airplane for over 25 years and has held various CAP aircrew ratings including; Command Pilot; Observer; Mission Pilot; Mission Check Pilot; Wing Check Pilot in addition to Incident Commander and Certified Trainer.

Colonel Hannah graduated Adelphi University, class of 1954, with a Bachelor’s Degree. In 1955, he was Commissioned Ensign US Navy March and served active duty until 1958.  He continued he service in the reserves until 1962, serving as a Lieutenant.

Hannah worked for several major technology firms including; IBM, systems, sales and management; Raytheon Data Systems, Large Account manager; Wang Labs, Major Account Manager.

His wife, Marge, is also a CAP member holding the grade of Lt. Col.  He has 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

When Colonel Hannah isn’t working on CAP business, he can be found at the golf course.  After retiring from the real world, he started working for Manatee County in Florida as a Golf starter/ranger and/or cart-barn person.
