Event Description

Region Staff College is the formal in-residence course required for completion of Level IV (Command and Staff) of the CAP officer professional development program. SERSC prepares selected CAP officers (normally Majors and Major selects) to better execute the duties and responsibilities associated with CAP command and staff positions at the Region and Wing levels.

Eligibility

CAP senior members who have completed Level III of the professional development program and currently hold command or staff positions at any level within CAP, are eligible to attend the SERSC. Others may attend on a space available basis with an approved waiver (See note below).

Waiver Requests

The Region Commander may permit attendance at Region Staff College prior to completion of Level III on an exception basis. If an SERSC student is requesting a waiver it must accompany the CAP Form 17. The Region Commander’s approved written waiver should be sent to the Director, Southeast Region Staff College prior to the course start date.

Tuition

The total registration fee for the College is $150.00. This fee includes an evening social, the Dining Out Banquet and all pre-prepared course materials. Payment of tuition and all fees must be received by the registration deadline of Friday, 17 May 2013.

NOTE: In all cases if payment is not received by 24 May 2013 (based upon requests coordinated in advance) you will automatically be dropped from the College.

Transportation

Arrival: Participants should plan to arrive not earlier than 1200 on Sunday, 30 June 2013.

Travel: All participants must make travel arrangements at their own expense. We will provide ground transportation from Knoxville Airport (TYS) as long as it is indicated on the Travel Information and Transportation Form (Attachment 2) and submitted with the application packet.

Flying Commercial Air: Please note, ground transportation from TYS to SERSC will only be available provided you return Attachment 2. The same transportation will be available for departure at the completion of the Staff College if requested in advance.

Flying General Aviation Aircraft: We will provide transportation from McGhee Tyson Airport at TAC Air (865 970 9000) for Personal or CAP aircraft. Please note, ground transportation from TYS to SERSC will only be available provided you complete and return Attachment 2. The same transportation will be available for departure at the completion of the Staff College if also requested in advance.

Ground Travel: Take your best route to McGhee Tyson ANGB. You may use the following address for your GPS: 400 Taylor Street, Louisville, TN 37777. You must complete and submit Attachment 2 to ensure we are aware of your travel plans and how to contact you if necessary.

Lodging

All students will stay at the McGhee Tyson Inn (Base Billeting) for the duration of the Course (30 June to 6 July 2013). Off base billeting for SERSC students is not permitted. Students should be able to check in to their rooms after 1300 on Sunday, 30 June 2013.

As of this date the lodging rate is $17.00 per night. Additional information may be found elsewhere in this document.

Meals

Daily Meals: Participants are responsible for their own meals, with the exception of the Sunday evening social and Friday Dining Out Banquet.

Dining facility: The facility is within walking distance of the school. The price is $2.50 for breakfast and $4.75 for lunch and dinner.

Dining Out Banquet: The Graduation Banquet will be Friday, 5 July 2013. The Dining Out is a formal occasion and a required part of the College. The cost of the banquet is included in your registration fee.

Uniform of the Day

The standard Uniform of the Day for the SERSC 2013 is the CAP corporate uniform with white short sleeve aviator shirt, gray trousers for men and gray slacks or skirts for women, without tie, as prescribed in CAPM 39-1. No ribbons will be worn.

The alternative uniform is the CAP corporate uniform with white short sleeve aviator shirt, with blue trousers for men and blue slacks or skirts for women, no tie, and blue flight cap, as prescribed in CAPM 39-1. No ribbons will be worn.

The second alternative is the USAF style CAP uniform with blue short sleeve shirt, with blue trousers for men and blue slacks or skirts for women, no tie, with blue flight cap, as prescribed in CAPM 39-1. No ribbons will be worn.

NOTE: If you do not currently own the required uniforms, listed above, necessary to attend SERSC, you should not apply to attend SERSC.

About the I.G. Brown Air National Guard Training and Education Center

The I.G. Brown Air National Guard Training and Education Center is the heart of leadership training for the Air National Guard and is located at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base near Knoxville, Tennessee. 82 Total Force personnel support the Paul H. Lankford Enlisted Professional Military Education Center and the Media and Engagement Division. The center, also known as TEC, conducts an average of 18 professional military education courses a year and hosts more than 40 skill enhancement classes in subjects ranging from explosives safety orientation to food services, recruiting, security and expeditionary medical support.
